TW: Mental illness/eating disorder. First time performance of new piece “Breakfast” at Bowery Poetry Club. I never thought I’d make art of my struggles with this mental illness... I always approached eating disorders very clinically, as a subject to talk around, about, or through. Not a subject to relive through storytelling. Not as a cyclically fresh wound to bear. Not something to make beauty of. But love exists. Love of self exists. Love is louder than my shame. Love is stronger than my silence.
